Discover Turkey's rich agricultural heritage and investment opportunities
Historical Heritage
Turkey has been home to the birth of agricultural culture since the beginning of human history. The Mesopotamia region in the middle of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers is the ancient land where the first agriculture was practiced and modern man was born. In addition to hosting such ancient and historically important lands, Turkey is geographically home to many climates.
Agricultural Landscape
Agricultural lands constitute 26.3 million hectares of Turkey's 77.9 million hectares of land. With its vast agricultural lands, rich water resources and fertile soils, Turkey is among the most important agricultural countries in the world.
Turkey's total crop production, excluding ornamental plants, is approximately 105 million tons. More than half of this production, about 60 million tons, is obtained from field crops, followed by vegetables and fruits.
Production Excellence
Although 4% of the 20 million hectares of agricultural land is under vegetable cultivation, it alone accounts for 27% of production. This shows how high the yield per unit area is in vegetable production. Fruit growing, which accounts for 15% of the 20 million hectares of agricultural land, accounts for 17% of production.
Key Agricultural Products
